The School of Agricultural Sciences at Sam Houston State University is seeking applicants for an Assistant Professor in Animal Science, with an earned Doctoral degree in Animal Science, or closely related field, from an accredited university. ABD candidates will be considered but must be completed with their degree by the start of the position. This is a nine-month position with the opportunity for summer employment available, beginning September 2025 or when a suitable candidate is found. This is a 75% teaching and 25% research appointment with service activities required for promotion, merit pay increases and tenure. Primary teaching and research responsibilities will be in the discipline of Animal Science with possible courses in Animal Behavior, Animal Care & Welfare, Meat Science, Nutrition, Livestock Evaluation, Sheep and Goat Management and Livestock Production Systems. Documented experience and ability to teach college level courses in Animal Science, with additional experience in online delivery of courses is required. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are required and applicants must have a strong commitment to undergraduate education and interdisciplinary collaboration.
