We are seeking a highly motivated and team-driven individual to join our expanding collaborative research team at the Veterinary Education, Research, and Outreach (VERO) Program in Canyon, TX. This tenure-track position offers a unique opportunity to engage in ground-breaking research emphasizing dairy cattle health and productivity, with key focus on infectious diseases, host responses, microbial ecology, or immunology. The VERO Program is situated in the heart of one of the world's most abundant cattle production regions in the world. Within a 2-hour drive from the VERO Bldg in Canyon, TX, there is a vital network of state-of-the-art dairies that are home to over 600,000 lactating cows! This amazing network of state-of-the-art dairies is the 3rd largest milkshed in the U.S. Our region also produces over 7 million fed cattle – which is 25% of the fed beef supply – and millions of young calves annually. These dairy and beef industries contribute nearly $20 Billion to the regional economy annually! The VERO Research Program excels through active collaboration with key stakeholders in animal agriculture and partners within the Texas A&M System. These include experts at Texas A&M University, West Texas A&M University, Texas A&M AgriLife Research, and the Texas Veterinary Medical Diagnostic Laboratory. Together, we deliver highly impactful research focused on preventing and mitigating infectious diseases, enhancing production efficiency, improving food safety, and optimizing antimicrobial usage. These endeavors aim to enhance sustainable cattle production systems while ensuring an abundant and wholesome food supply.
