The Food Science Department at the University of Guelph invites applications for a tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level.
The Assistant Professor position is in the area of dairy science, with an emphasis on dairy chemistry and dairy products technology. Teaching and outreach are important components of the position. The incumbent will be expected to teach undergraduate students in the B.Sc. Food Science major, teach specialized graduate courses in dairy chemistry and technology and supervise graduate students. The successful candidate will contribute to the annual ice cream and cheese short courses for industry professionals. The development of a high-calibre research program is expected. While focusing on dairy science, the research interests of the incumbent should align with one or more of the major research themes of the department including food processing, structure and quality; food safety; food microbiology and the association of food and health. Ideally, the incumbent will collaborate with others working in dairy science both internally and externally. Government inspected dairy pilot-plant facilities and wet-bench laboratory space are available.
The successful candidate will hold a doctoral degree in, or relevant to, Dairy Science and/or Technology, and have substantial research experience, strong evidence of research capacity, proven communication skills, and demonstrated ability to support industry stakeholders. Dairy industry experience would be an advantage.
