|Position Title:||Assistant Professor in Swine Nutrition|
South Dakota State University Department of Animal Science is offering an exciting career opportunity for an Assistant Professor in Swine Nutrition. The Department of Animal Science is expanding its nutrition program by adding an Assistant Professor in Swine Nutrition. Applicants with innovative research programs that complement or expand existing animal science research in the department will be given the highest priority. This is a 9-month, full-time, benefit eligible, tenure-track position. This position is supervised by the Department Head of Animal Science and has an expected start date at the beginning of the fall 2021 semester.

The responsibilities of this position are 80% research and 20% teaching. The successful candidate will be responsible for the development of an independent and nationally recognized research program in the area of swine nutrition. The successful candidate will also be expected to develop a successful teaching program, function effectively on multidisciplinary and multi-species teams, develop collaborative relationships with faculty in the department and across the university, establish a strong relationship with producers and allied industry members, and develop and sustain a successful extramurally-funded research program which attracts outstanding graduate students.
The Department focuses on the creation, development and distribution of basic and applied knowledge related to the biology and production of livestock, ranging in scope from the molecular to the applied level. The successful candidate will also be responsible for assuming a key role in the Department’s undergraduate and graduate teaching program. Advising undergraduate Animal Science students and participating in the departmental graduate program is also expected, as is service to the department, college and university.
