The Department of Animal Science in the Bumpers College at the University of Arkansas is soliciting applications for a full-time, 9-month, non-tenure track position at the rank of Instructor (80% instruction:20% service). This position is annually renewable based on performance and funding. Anticipated start date is August 19, 2019.
The Instructor will be expected to contribute to the department by teaching three to four undergraduate classes per semester in the areas of introductory equine science, animal handling laboratories, and coordinate several applied, hands-on equine courses in Animal Science. Specific duties include: Teach Animal Science undergraduate courses; coordinate student competitive activities including equine judging and ranch horse team activities (including horse boarding coordination); co-manage resident horse herd and Dorothy E. King Equine Pavilion; participate as a collaborative team member in the Department of Animal Science; contribute to the academic community through service at departmental (e.g., advising students), college and/or university levels.
Minimal requirements include a M.S. in Animal or Equine Science, or related fields. Must have previous experience managing and training horses; and experience in management of equine associated facilities. Additional desired qualifications include a Ph.D. and at least two years’ experience teaching at university/college level will receive favorable consideration. Experience with equine judging and ranch horse team activities also will receive favorable consideration. Salary will be commensurate with experience.
