|Position Title:||Instructional Assistant Professor - Dairy Science|
Instructional Assistant Professor with an emphasis in animal science and a focus on dairy science. This is a 9-month, non-tenure track position with responsibilities for teaching (90%) and service (10%), with potential opportunities for additional activities to fill the remaining 3-months based on identified departmental need and funding availability. GENERAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Teaching responsibilities will include teaching courses related to dairy science, which will involve working closely with Animal Science teaching faculty to implement the new undergraduate curriculum by resurrecting dairy production and management courses (Discipline Focus Courses). The incumbent will serve as Texas A&M University’s representative to the US Dairy Education & Training Consortium steering committee, including assisting with the annual six-week student training program, develop opportunities to provide online course sections in dairy production to address the needs of non-major College of Agriculture and Life Sciences undergraduate students and be part of the teaching faculty cadre to instruct students in the new Animal Science Capstone course, as well as lead the dairy judging and dairy challenge activities. In addition, the successful candidate will coordinate the internship program as part of the Animal Science Department’s emphasis on providing high impact learning experiences for our majors.
REQUIREMENTS: Ph.D. in animal science or closely related field, with documented evidence of expertise in dairy production and/or management. A demonstrated desire and ability to teach and develop a strong program in undergraduate education is required. Applicant must be proficient in oral and written communications and must have human relations skills to work closely with the dairy industry. Computer proficiency is required.
The successful applicant is expected to contribute to the service reputation of the Department of Animal Science through involvement in the dairy industry.
