The Department of Animal Science, Aarhus University, invites applications for a professorship in Sustainable Dairy Production. The position is available from 1st of June 2018 or as soon as possible thereafter.
Background for the joint AU-Arla professorship
The professorship in sustainable dairy production is initiated in a 5 year joint AU-Arla project. Arla wishes to support research and innovation in resource efficient feed value chains and in cow feed rations resulting in healthy milk for healthy dairy products. Aarhus University (AU) has established the Centre for Circular Bioeconomy (CBIO). The aim of CBIO is to become an international knowledge hub integrating research and development on bioeconomic production systems and recycling concepts. The Centre coordinates and focus research expertise from relevant AU-departments into a whole-chain research, and will co-fund the professorship. The professorship will be placed in the Department of Animal Science (ANIS). The mission of ANIS is to perform basic, strategic and applied research and innovation within the Departmentís core activities: health, welfare and nutrition. The activities make up the science-based foundation for ANISí teaching, public sector consultancy and collaboration with business and industry. ANIS has strong research units within immunology and microbiology, molecular nutrition and reproduction, animal nutrition and physiology, animal behavior and stress biology, and epidemiology and management in which the core activities take place. The successful applicant will be working in the Section of animal nutrition and physiology but have responsibilities across ANIS and CBIO.
