|Position Title:||Assistant or Associate Professor in Animal Science|
The School of Agribusiness and Agriscience at Middle Tennessee State University invites applications for a 10-month, tenure-track position in Animal Science at the assistant or associate professor level. Applicants must have a Ph.D. in Animal Science, Dairy Science, or a closely related field by the start date of August 1, 2018. The preferred applicant should have a working knowledge of dairy production. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching a wide array of undergraduate-level courses in the animal sciences and participate in scholarly activities (i.e., research, grant writing, publications, presentations) as part of his/her professional development. Public service and student mentoring are further requirements for this position. Duties may also include supervision of undergraduate research projects and student organization advising. Effective teaching, organizational, and communication skills are essential. The ability to be a productive team player and to interact well with peers, students, constituent groups, and the general public is essential. Preference will be given to candidates with demonstrated excellence in undergraduate education, applied research, and public service. The School serves approximately 500 undergraduate students and offers baccalaureate programs in animal science, plant and soil science, and agribusiness. Agricultural education concentrations are available for each of these programs. The School also offers graduate degrees in Horse Science (M.S.) (concentrations in equine education, equine physiology, and industry management) and Administration and Supervision (M.Ed.) with a concentration in Agricultural Education Leadership. The MTSU Farm Laboratories includes over 750 acres and offers experiential learning opportunities for our students and faculty. The Farm Laboratories include a state of the art Dairy unit, progressive Beef and Swine units, Crops unit, Garden and Apiary unit, and a dynamic Creamery operation which includes a newly established bottling enterprise and bag in the box operations.
