Position Title: Equine Science Full Time Faculty and Program Director
Salary:$44,452-$85662/annually
Part/Full:Full Time

Job Summary
Serves as Program Director and teaching faculty for Equine Science Program. Coordinates/completes program related responsibilities including budget monitoring. Coordinates off-site teaching unit including contract negotiations and site visits. Coordinates EQS Advisory Committee. Program objectives emphasize equine care/business/management rather than horsemanship. Works with a diverse population of administrators, faculty, staff, students and the community.

Essential Functions
60% - Provides classroom instruction and internship coordination.
17% - Program Director duties include scheduling, reporting, learning assessment, committee work, text selections, syllabi, off-site unit coordination, updating knowledge/technical skills, coordinating events.
12% - Work with horses (animals) at the off-site unit
8% - Student advisement, new course development, updating existing courses.
3% - Supervising and evaluating adjunct faculty, scheduling assignments.

Minimum Qualifications
The Occupational Teaching Fields require the following from an accredited college or university:
a master's degree in the teaching field, or
a master's in any teaching field with 18 graduate semester hours in the teaching field, or
a bachelor's degree plus three (3) years work experience in field to be taught, or
a associate's degree or 64 semester hours and five (5) years work experience in the field to be taught or
Five (5) years work experience in the field to be taught
EDU 250 - Teaching and Learning in the Community College or equivalent must be completed within two (2) years of date of hire.

Desired Qualifications
1. Masters' degree in Animal Sciences with an Equine Specialty or Doctor of Veterinary Medicine/Equine
Specialty
2. Five (5) years teaching experience
3. Knowledge of Online course preparation and a commitment to preparing/expanding online classes
4. Experience working within the equine industry and community
5. Experience developing and maintaining partnerships and internship opportunities
6. Practical industry experience
Special Working Conditions
Off-site horse unit involves exposure to typical farm-type conditions including pesticide sprays. Work requires extended periods of sitting, standing, bending, stooping, possible lifting of 30 lbs., ground work with horses. Day/evening/weekend availability as needed for teaching and supervising.
